Can you really save money on your cell phone bill? Well there might just be a way for you to knock off $10’s if not $100’s off your monthly cell phone bill. I recently came across this really cool article on TheListTV.com that explain 3 really simple ways you can save money by using some of the apps on your phone. Here’s what they say:
Apps like WiFi Map Pro map wifi in your area and list passwords contributed by users. And you won’t be in wifi when commuting, so download your maps and directions in advance. And Ryan says getting around is getting easier: “Google just rolled out an update in Google Maps that allows you to get offline turn-by-turn GPS directions.”
KNOW YOUR TOOLBOX
And Ryan says you can keep your old number. “You can port your phone number to Google voice, you don’t lose your phone number and you can still receive calls and texts to that in the cloud.”

There are a growing number of services designed to be all or mostly wireless, augmented by pay-as-you-go cell minutes. Players in the space include FreeWheel, FreedomPop, Republic Wireless and Ting. As always, read the fine print before you sign anything. But even the ones that offer cell service outside of wifi have more transparent pricing that makes comparison shopping easier.
Ryan boiled it down to your bottom line: “If you’re paying $100 a month to AT&T or Verizon, but you’re only using AT&T or Verizon’s network for 10% of your day, it really begs the question why you’re giving them all that money when there’s another network there that’s free that you can rely on that can give you just as good a service.”
You see it you really can save a bunch of money by getting rid of services that you can find elsewhere for free. For those people who just can’t go without their phones for a minute it may seem hard but if you give these tips a try you might just be surprised at how easy it is to ditch the contracts and use your smartphones what they truly are.
